We are right now in the mid-80s as far as temperatures go. Right in the middle of summer. One thing that we should be watching out for here in our neck of the woods is our furry little friends. Here are some tips to keep your sidekicks cool during the summer time.
Check the Pavement
If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your friend’s little paw pads. Keep them walking on the grass and stay off the asphalt. If you are used to going out for a run with your friend, try an earlier time.
Groom Your Pet
Grooming your dog is applicable will assist them to stay cooler. Getting rid of mats and tangled hair will help. Think of it this way, if it keeps them warm in winter, it’s too hot for summer time.
Drink Plenty of Water
Keep your dog well hydrated and in the shade during any outside playtime and activities.
Cover Your Dog in Water
Have water play out in the yard or in the pool when the temps are getting hot. Make sure if you are dowsing them with water, to cool off their paws and stomach too!
Keep Your Pal Out of The Dog House
Dog houses aren’t a great idea in heat, many dog houses have poor air circulation and retain heat.
Watch the Temp
Make sure that you are being mindful of the overall temperatures outside. Don’t spend too long outdoors with your furry friend. Bring them inside to an AC filled home and some water.
