Did you know that Rusk Heating & Cooling can trace its roots back to the mid 1800s? While back then we were called “The Montgomery Coal Company,” we still delivery the same honest, high-quality service today.
Throwback Thursday | Rusk Heating & Cooling's Roots

In honor of Throwback Thursday, let’s take a look back at Rusk Heating & Cooling’s roots:

In 1865, we were founded as The Montgomery Coal Company. We supplied coal and fuel oil for businesses and homes in Northern Kentucky until World War II.

After World War II, The Montgomery Coal Company began to expand. By 1946, Fred Dietz, Jr., Thomas Rankin “Doc” Rusk and Leonard “Bo” Badenberg came together to create the company’s heating division. In 1949, they added residential and commercial air conditioning units.

The business grew to more than 20,000 customers. In 1973, The Montgomery Coal Company sold its coal and oil business and rebranded to Doc Rusk Heating and Air Conditioning. Since 1968, we’ve been located in Covington along the Ohio River and just under the Brent Spence Bridge!

Although Rusk Heating & Cooling was briefly bought out by Roto-Rooter in 1999, by 2002 the company was sold back to fourth generation owner Steve Morrison.

All of us are proud of Rusk Heating & Cooling’s roots! We’ve come a long way in our 150 years of service.

Don’t hesitate to call us for 24-hour emergency service.
