Q: How long will my home's heating system last?
A: Generally speaking, the average life expectancy is 10-20 years. That's assuming you properly care for and maintain your heating equipment over the years. It's also important to keep in mind that newer systems are more efficient. If your system is 7 or more years old, replacement might make more sense than repair.

Q: What are the benefits of installing a programmable thermostat?
A: A properly-programmed thermostat can help reduce energy used for heating by up to 30 percent. Use a programmable thermostat to lower your heater setting when no one is home or when you're asleep.

Q: How else can I reduce my family's energy consumption this winter?
A: There are lots of ways to cut down on energy usage and heating costs:
  • Use your ceiling fans. No, ceiling fans are not just for summer! Switch it to run clockwise in the cooler months to help keep warm air down and away from the ceiling.
  • Perform yearly maintenance. Give us a call each fall for a heating tune-up. We'll make sure your system is operating at peak efficiency.
  • Close off vents in scarcely-used rooms. Why spend money heating up rooms that nobody uses?
