Fall HVAC Tips

Fall HVAC Tips

Autumn is so close we can almost taste it! If you're anything like us at Rusk Heating & Cooling, you already have pumpkin lattes and candy corn on your mind. But have you given any thought to how the changing of the season will affect your heating and air conditioning systems?
Fall HVAC Tips

As temperatures cool, you'll have to make a few adjustments to your HVAC system. Start with these:

1. Clean your air filter

It's important to do this year-round, not just when fall hits. We recommend cleaning or changing your air filter once a month to keep your system operating efficiently. If you're not sure where your air filter is located, a Rusk Heating & Cooling technician can help.

2. Add ceiling fans

Most people associate ceiling fans with summertime. However, with a quick change to its settings, a ceiling fan can help push warm air towards the bottom of a room as well. In fact, running a ceiling fan in the winter can help cut energy costs by approximately 40 percent!

3. Rethink your fireplace

Sure, fireplaces are cozy and inviting. Unfortunately, they're also one of the most inefficient sources of heat. If you simply cannot say goodbye to your fireplace, consider installing glass doors to prevent heat from escaping when it's not in use.
