What's the Perfect Sleep Temperature?

Maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature can be challenging, whether in the heat of summer or the dead of winter. This is especially true at night when you're trying to fall asleep. So what's the perfect sleep temperature?

Unfortunately there's no "magic number."

First off, due to differing resting metabolic rates, women and men tend to have conflicting temperature preferences. That is, women don't usually produce as much body heat as men do.

Where to start?

According to Men's Health, a good starting point for finding the perfect sleep temperature is 65 degrees. "Your body's core temperature is naturally low during deep sleep," the publication reports. "It starts to raises towards the end of your sleep cycle, as a sort of signal to your body that it's time to wake up."

Therefore, by maintaining a cool indoor temperature, you're helping your body get a good night's sleep. If 65 degrees doesn't work for you, try any temperature up to 69 degrees.
