AC Preventative Maintenance Tips

Spring has oficially sprung! With the arrival of a new season comes many tasks including getting the house and yard cleaned up, refreshing the indoors and of course, calling your local plumber to stop over to perform rountine maintenance on your air conditioning system! Maintaining your system is the best way to ensure trouble-free operation all year long.

Check out a few tips below on why preventative air conditioning maintenance is a good idea this spring.

Replace your air filter.
Replacing your ac filter should be done at the beginning of each season when you know it'll be working overtime. However, you should still be checking your filter each month to determine it's condition. If you notice your filter is dirty and filled with debris, it should be changed right away.

Reattach outdoor hoses.
Springtime and outdoor activites go hand in hand. It's important to check for leaks as soon as your hoses are put back into place to avoid your water bill steadily creeping up. You can do so by turning your system on and off and seeing if any excess water runs out.

Clear your gutters.
Throughout the fall and winter, it's likely that leaves, sticks and other debris have formed a home inside your gutters. As we all know, there usually is a fair amount of rain during spring so it's important your gutters are cleaned out and ready to drain properly.

Keep your unit clean.
Another important step in preparing your unit for the warmer months is making sure it's completely clear of leaves, pollen, grass, sticks and other outdoor materials. Also, be sure to clear the area around your system as well. This will ensure no debris gets inside your system causing it to run inefficiently.
