WARNING: Your Radiator Could Be a Fire Hazard

Oh, the beloved radiator - the things that keep your home warm and cozy all winter long. What would we do without them? Well, while they can seem like our best friends during the most frigid days of winter, they can quickly become our worst enemies if we don’t use them properly. That’s right, your radiator can become a major fire hazard if you use them for any of the below:

Your Radiator is NOT a Table

Believe it or not, lots of homeowners use their radiators as if they were tables. They place newspapers or magazines on them instead of on an actual table or on the counter. They use them to defrost gloves, hats, mittens and scarves after coming in out of the cold. They even use them to hold plates, cups, napkins and utensils and all of these things are a major no-no. Although they may not seem extremely hot to the touch at the time, your radiators can become very warm and any of these items can catch fire in a matter of minutes. Please DO NOT use your radiators as tables.

Your Radiator is NOT a Chair

Having friends and family over to watch a major sporting event? Maybe they’re coming over for a dinner party or a simple get-together and it’s not until everyone arrives that you realize seating is in high demand. Well, John and Diane can sit on the radiator right? WRONG! Radiators can in fact overheat and cause thermal injuries from exposure to extreme heat. Not to mention their clothes can catch fire or at the very least, begin to melt. Please DO NOT use your radiators as chairs.

We’re not here to scare you, we’re simply here to inform you about the potential dangers that come along with radiators during the colder months of the year in an attempt to keep you and your family safe!
